So how do you feel when you see an email with the title “Possible Donor?”.

My stomach did a triple salco and a full tuck and pike. It was Clinic C asking if I wanted to go ahead with treatment in late January as they had found a potential donor for us. Part of me was quite excited to look at her details, but actually I kind of knew it was a no-brainer.

We both want to see through the cycle with Top London Clinic, so Clinic C is not an option at the moment. It was actually our 3rd choice of clinics (out of 3) so it made the decision easier. Still, it was nice to think we can move ahead as soon as we want to.

Another first. Look what I made!!!

I haven’t baked a thing since I was at secondary school, so you may as well say I have never baked anything as there’s been too many bottles of wine under the bridge since then and I couldn’t remember how to bake a cake. I was chuffed with myself and having eaten it, we’re still alive…so a ‘Brucie Bonus’ as well!

We’ve been doing some long awaited jobs around the house this weekend. Yesterday we spent painting one of the bedrooms, in fact I need to give it a second coat in between meetings today! We also ordered a new fridge, not any old fridge, a humongous American style fridge. We’ve managed to afford it thanks to wedding money we haven’t yet spent. It arrives today, I am scared and excited at the same time as I just have this feeling that it will be too big for the space in the kitchen.

Never mind, who needs daylight when you have a hangover from all the beer and wine you can now chill. And as we can now store food/drink for 487 people, please can we have more than 2 adults and a lovable cat in the house?

P.S No news on the job front yet. Application went in last week, waiting to hear if I have got an interview.

  1. First, YUM–that looks so goooood!

I bet that email made you skip a beat or 2…and it sounds like you and Mr BTC know exactly what path you want to follow, and that’s what is important! Always thinking of you! xoxo

  2. Oh, I know how that feels!! I got the call that we had been matched after my second beta from IVF #4 (the one where I actually got pregnant). Even though we, clearly, were not moving ahead with that donor at that time, my stomach flipped, I started breathing heavy, and sweat started pouring down my face!!

  3. Ooooooh that cake looks delish! Nigella look out!

We spent the weekend doing housey chores as well and its funny how good it can make you feel!

And we had an “american style” fridge as well – one of my demands when we bought our first house together – and it is FAB!

    Have fun!!!

  4. That cake looks delicious! Nice job. Did you eat it already?

It is nice to know they can find matches so quickly. :-)

  5. It must feel so good to know that there are real options.

    Your cake looks great!!

  6. Helloooo my dear -oooo my heart skipped a few beats for you – just reading your post.

I can’t help but feel the London clinic is going to do the trick – but good to know the options are there – as you say.

Your cake does look tasty – well done.

  7. In my house, it is a the condiments that take up too much space in my very american style fridge. I want a bigger one. Color me an ugly american.

    How long until the ivf?

  8. Must be an exciting feeling having the possibility of a donor. I’m also really excited for you with a cycle at ‘you know where’ coming up.

Do come and give me a hug – and perhaps one for B too – when you’re up. I don’t live too far from the clinic so it’d be easy to meet or for you to pop in – if you felt up to it, that is.

I am SO totally envious of that fridge on your next post. It would take over my whole kitchen but looks fab in yours. I always wanted one like that.

Your cake looks gorgeous. Hope to see many more – if not taste them.

  9. That cakes looks delish! Yummy!

Nice to hear that you *could* go ahead with the donor if you were there right now – but I’m praying that you won’t need to.
